Privacy policy
How Catharsis collects, uses, stores and protects personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
About this policy
#This policy explains how Fibaro Pty Ltd, trading as Catharsis.net.au (ABN 50 600 361 822) (“Catharsis”, “we”, “us”), handles personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy covers our website, enquiries you send us and the services we provide.
What personal information we collect
#We only collect what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include:
- Contact enquiries: your name, email address, organisation, phone number (optional), the service you are interested in and your message.
- Licence quote requests: the details above plus the vendor, product, number of seats, licence term, renewal date and whether it is a new purchase or a renewal.
- Technical information sent with a form: the date and time of your enquiry and a shortened version of your browser’s user agent string (the text your browser sends to describe itself), limited to 200 characters.
- Client engagements: business contact details of your staff, and any personal information we see while delivering a service, such as user lists, email addresses or log data.
- Phone and email: whatever you choose to tell us when you call 1300 342 276 or email info@catharsis.net.au.
We don’t ask for sensitive information, such as health information, and we ask you not to send it through our forms. You can call or email us without giving your real name, but our web forms ask for a name so we know how to address our reply.
How we collect it
#We collect personal information:
- directly from you, when you fill in a form on this website, call us, email us or meet with us
- automatically, when your browser sends technical information with a form, and through the hosting, security and analytics services that help us deliver, protect and improve the website
- from our clients, who give us the business contact details of their staff, and from client systems we work on during an engagement, such as user lists and logs
How we use it
#We use personal information to:
- reply to your enquiry and give you the information or quote you asked for
- deliver, manage and invoice the services you engage us for
- protect our website and forms from spam and abuse
- meet our legal, contractual and certification obligations
We use the shortened user agent only to help tell genuine enquiries from automated spam. We don’t use it to identify you, track you across other websites or build a profile.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for any purpose you would not reasonably expect.
Who we share it with
#We share personal information only with service providers who help us run our business, and only as much as they need. They act on our instructions and must protect the information. They include:
- Website hosting and security providers, which host this website, store the enquiries you send through our forms, and protect the site from attacks and spam, including checks that tell people from bots.
- Analytics and advertising providers, which help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it, and measure how our online advertising performs.
- Email and IT service providers, which help us receive and manage your enquiries.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyer, where needed.
We may also disclose information where the law requires or authorises it, for example to a court or a regulator.
Overseas disclosure
#Client data from our services is stored in our own data centres in Australia. Some of the service providers behind our website, such as hosting, security and analytics services, may store or process information outside Australia. We take reasonable steps under APP 8 to make sure overseas recipients protect personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
#Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site to work and stay secure, such as cookies that protect it from bots and attacks. Others help us understand how visitors use the site, through analytics services, and measure our online advertising, including showing our ads to people who have visited our website. This information is generally collected in a way that doesn’t directly identify you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although some features may not.
Our blog and shop are separate websites and may use their own cookies. Check those sites for details.
How we protect it
#Catharsis is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and personal information is handled under our certified information security management system. Access is limited to the people who need it, accounts are protected with multi-factor authentication, and data is encrypted in transit. See our trust page for more about how we protect data.
